'Caveat Emptor' still rules!
I've just been painfully reminded of this fact of life.
Reminded. Re-reminded. Re-re-reminded...ad infinitum...nauseum...u get the drift???
Beware of the Seller.
Beware of those saccharin loaded smiles, and 'after sales' warranties.
Beware of fine print.
Beware of a salesman's promise, even if it's on paper.
Beware of guaranteed 'free service', by marketers who're free with their promises.
I know there is a growing consumer movement, greater consumer awareness, and initiatives like jaago re which have caught the popular imagination, but why do I still feel that everyone's out to take me for a ride?
Simple. Its bcoz they are.
I haven't arrived at the 'eureka' moment, through one blinding flash of enlightenment.
It's a lesson that has been hammered into me after many classes at these schools for scandal.
The strangest thing is that someone like me has chosen to create a blog like this.
I'm considered the typical easy going 'chalta hai' consumer types who understands that every transaction is underwritten by human greed and fallibility, and is willing to forgive others their trespasses.
But there is a line.
And this has been breached once too often.
By callous marketers like the LGs and SAMSUNGS of this world who've reneged on guarantees.
By car dealers like DSC Hyundai who've broken a series of promises made before the sale, and supermarkets like MORE which have virtually cheated me, on more occassion than one, by double billing, under packing, and other underhand ways that I'll detail in the coming posts.
My well of infinite patience has run dry, and this is my attempt to document and share with you my personal rogue's gallery of Brand Bandits.
Hopefully you will share these stories with others, and contribute your own, and together, we can create a groundswell of consumer opinion that makes it impossible for brands to take us for granted.
